SSC CGL 2025 Exam Structure

The SSC CGL exam is an online exam conducted in four stages (tiers):

  • Tier I – Preliminary Exam (Objective MCQ based)
  • Tier II – Mains Examination(Computer Based Objective MCQ Type)
  • Tier III – Descriptive Paper (Pen-and-paper mode)
  • Tier IV – Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test/Data Entry Speed Test (as per post requirements)

Each stage helps find the best fit for the job. Candidates need to meet the requirements of each phase to move on.

 

SSC CGL 2025 Tier- I Syllabus

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Total Questions: 100 (25 per section)
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for PWD candidates)
  • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks deducted per wrong answer

SSC CGL 2025 Tier IV Syllabus

Exam Pattern

This stage is a Skill Test applicable only to specific posts. It includes:

  • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): Candidates must type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): Tests skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Final Selection Process

  • Consideration is given to both Tier I and Tier II scores.
  • Tier III is qualifying.
  • Tier IV (Skill Test) is for certain posts.
